Sleeman Sports Complex (SSC) is set to become the centre of the cycling universe in 2028, with the venue recently confirmed to host multiple headline international cycling events for 2028.
- 1st round: 4-6 February 2028, Anna Meares Velodrome
- 1st and 2nd rounds: 12 and 13 February 2028, Brisbane SX International BMX Centre
The events are expected to attract the world’s top Olympic hopefuls as they prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics, positioning SSC as a critical stop on the international cycling calendar during a key Olympic qualification period.
SSC recently held two huge BMX events at the Brisbane SX International BMX Centre, with record crowds at the BMX Oceania Racing Championships, before the AusCycling BMX National Series.
The venue is now preparing to host the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships from 17- 25 July, with thousands of elite riders from across the globe competing for top honours.
Sleeman Sports Complex Events Manager Lisa Moczynski said the additional events were a great opportunity to showcase elite cycling and inspire developing riders.
“Having such prestigious events announced for our venue really helps establish it as a premier destination for global cycling competition, training, development and junior participation, and it’s such a win for our onsite cycling community.
“The turnout of riders and spectators for our recent events was truly impressive and gave us some great insight into what we can expect at the World Championships in a few months’ time, when we’ll get to watch the world’s fastest BMX riders compete up close," Ms Moczynski said.
