Huge weekend at Brisbane SX International BMX Centre

02/03/2026

Sleeman Sports Complex recently held two huge back-to-back BMX events at the Brisbane SX International BMX Centre.

The venue welcomed record crowds for the BMX Oceania Racing Championships, achieving a historic milestone, the highest single-day rider participation numbers ever seen in the sport across the country. Followed by AusCycling’s BMX National Series with 1200 riders from 16 different countries in attendance for Round 1.

Sleeman Sports Complex Events Manager Lisa Moczynski said they were thrilled to host two major events in the international BMX calendar.

"Witnessing such a remarkable turnout of riders on the track and spectators in attendance was truly impressive — all united by their passion for the sport of BMX at our world-class facility," Ms Moczynski said.

“We’re counting down the days now until we host the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in July 2026, marking the first time Australia has hosted the event since 2009."

“The events over the weekend offered an insight into what to expect come the World Championships later this year."

“Whether you're a lifelong fan or new to the world of BMX, the upcoming World Championships is your chance to witness history in the making, with thousands of elite riders from across the planet set to battle it out right here at Sleeman Sports Complex!”
